"Avengers: Infinity War" will unite familiar characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also introduces some new faces, including Thanos' villainous crew.
The Children of Thanos, as they are referred to in the latest film, are not to be confused with Thanos' adopted daughters, Gamora and Nebula. Instead, this team consists of four members: Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Cull Obsidian, and Ebony Maw. In the comics, these characters are part of what's known as the Black Order, and there's five of them.
If you didn't catch who all of these villains were or if you're still confused, here's an explanation on who they are and what they can do.
Corvus Glaive
In the comics, Corvus Glaive is chosen to lead the Black Order due to his incredible skill as a warrior. He is incredibly strong and fast and is immortal thanks to the glaive he carries. The weapon, consisting of a single-edge blade, can cut through anything. With it intact, he cannot be destroyed.
The sharp-toothed, pale creature is also the husband of Proxima Midnight.
Proxima Midnight
Like her husband, Proxima Midnight carries a powerful weapon. Her spear, which was crafted by Thanos, was created from the energy of a star and has the ability to transform Hulk into Bruce Banner with its energy. As a skilled fighter, the spear is lethal in her hands, as it has the ability to discharge poisonous energy that will not miss its target.
Cull Obsidian
In the comics, this beast goes by the name of Black Dwarf. The name Cull Obsidian is another name for the Black Order, but for the film, this large alien is instead given the name. Cull is essentially like the Hulk, a massive and strong creature. His skin is incredibly durable and cannot be pierced.
Ebony Maw
Ebony Maw looks like Voldemort with his pale skin and lack of nose. He is a genius alien with the ability to manipulate those around him. He doesn't physically fight, but uses his mind as his weapon. In "Infinity War," he's able to control and warp the items around him.
In the trailer, Ebony has Doctor Strange trapped and is torturing him with what appear to be sharp crystals.
The other team member not seen in the movie: Supergiant
The other female in the Black Order was removed from the team for the film. In the comics, she also has mind control abilities, so Ebony basically replaces her.
