Following backlash from Roseanne Barr's racist tweet about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, ABC has canceled "Roseanne"— and people have mixed reactions.

A statement from Channing Dungey, the president of ABC Entertainment, stated: "Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show."

Barr has fueled controversy for some time due to her promotion of conspiracy theories and vocal support of Donald Trump.

People have a lot of thoughts about the situation.

Sara Gilbert, who played Darlene and served as executive producer on the show, spoke out on Twitter.

Some people, however, are calling Gilbert's comments into question because they feel Barr's personal politics have always been evident and attached to the show.

Other celebrities have spoken out about the situation.

A few people think it was wrong to reboot the series given Barr's personal views.

Many are glad to see the show canceled.

Others are disappointed with ABC.

Some are making jokes about the situation on Twitter.

Several people have noted that the cast and crew who were brought on for the series' short-lived reboot are now out of a job for reasons beyond their control.

The revival of "Roseanne" brought in huge ratings for ABC for its premiere in March. Prior to its cancellation, the series was picked up for a second season without hesitation.

"Roseanne" is about a working-class family from the Midwest and on the show and offscreen, Roseanne has supported and defended President Trump. Trump apparently was impressed with the premiere of the reboot that he called Barr to congratulate her on the series' success.

Trump, who is usually outspoken on Twitter, has yet to comment on the show's cancellation.
