Jack Dorsey met Ted Cruz and other Republicans about Twitter's supposed liberal bias

Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey took a series of meetings with high-profile Republicans, including senator Ted Cruz, to assuage their fears about his company's supposed liberal bias.

According to The Washington Post's Tony Romm, citing sources, Dorsey had dinner on June 19 with Mercedes Schlapp (a communications advisor to Donald Trump), Fox commentator Guy Benson, TV host Greta Van Susteren, and Americans for Tax Reform founder Grover Norquist.

Right-wingers have expressed fear that they are censored on services like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

While Dorsey was reportedly there to build trust, the group accused him of showing his own progressive bias by tweeting about issues such as gay rights and immigration.

They also said he needed to hire engineers with diverse political viewpoints.

According to the Post, Dorsey separately met with Ted Cruz and pro-Trump Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Some of the people Dorsey met want him to look into Twitter's news feature Moments, which they said often painted conservatives in a negative light. So far, Twitter hasn't publicly announced any changes.

Dorsey did admit internally that he and Twitter's board lean left.

According to a memo obtained by the Post, he wrote: "It's no secret that we are largely left leaning, and we all have biases. That includes me, our board, and our company."
