In 1992, Nirvana was at the peak of their popularity, scoring a coveted Rolling Stone cover, Disney's "Aladdin" made its big screen debut, and one of the most well-known movie musicals ever created was released: "Newsies."
No, not the show on Broadway— that came afterward. We're referring to the original Disney musical film of the same name. Loosely based on a true story of the 1899 newsboy strike in New York City, the so-called newsies "soak" and sing their way through oppression and into a fairer working system.
Despite planning to be a major big-screen success, "Newsies" was a surprising flop, making less than $3 million at the box office. The movie, which cost over $15 million to make, might not have lauded critical acclaim, but the film earned passionate "fansies" and gave a few young stars a boost to their future Hollywood careers.
Now, 26 years later, it's time to take a look back at where the cast of the film is today.
