Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 on Saturday to win their third consecutive Champions League title.

After a 0-0 first half, Karim Benzema opened up the scoring for Real in the 51st minute, getting his foot on a misplayed ball from Liverpool keeper Loris Karius. Liverpool would respond almost immediately thanks to a goal from Sadio Mané that tied the game at 1-1.

That's when things went wild.

In the 61st minute, Gareth Bale would substitute into the match. Just two minutes later, he hit a mid-air strike on a ball to score what will certainly be in the conversation for goal of the year, giving Real Madrid a 2-1 lead.

It's not the first bicycle goal Los Blancos have netted in the competition — Cristiano Ronaldo sent home a similarly impressive goal in the quarterfinals in April.

Bale would add a another goal before the match was over to bring the lead up to 3-1, which would hold until the final whistle, as Real Madrid continued its dominance of European competition.
